Meme Rules and Mod Alert Thread
Dec. 4th, 2018 10:55 amFallout Kink Meme Guidelines & Posting FAQ
THE RULES
1. All requests, stories, artworks and comments must be posted anonymously.
2. Do not post any stories or artwork that you have not written or drawn yourself.
3. For every request you make, you should post a story or artwork for someone else's prompt. If you feel you cannot contribute fic or art, you should comment on at least three stories or artworks. A high ratio of comments to fills is necessary to keep the Fallout Kink Meme alive and healthy, and everyone must contribute in one way or another.
4. Nothing sexual under age 17 is permitted. Sexual 'correction' violent or otherwise against gay or lesbian characters is not permitted, nor is racism, homophobia or hate speech. Content that contains animal abuse or death for sexual pleasure is not permitted. Please use your good judgement. If it isn't in the game, it probably doesn't need to be included. All material containing material with no consent (noncon) or dubious constent (dubcon) MUST be clearly labelled with NONCON or DUBCON included in the subject header.
5. Be a good neighbor. Be enthusiastic and welcoming to new posters, don't pick fights on the meme if you don't like something, be the first to leave a comment if a story isn't getting any attention, and generally make the Fallout Kink Meme a postive and busy place. Be nice.
6. Please post your stories to the kink meme itself, not a link to AO3, Tumblr, FF.net or similar. The Fallout Kink Meme is a small and intimate space for sharing fic with a strong community of readers; merely posting links to and/or spruiking offsite stories destroys that close-knit community feel. Links to offsite stories and/or directions to find stories posted offsite will be considered spam and removed. Feel free to promo your AO3/Tumblr/etc account in the Discussion post, but please keep it out of the story sections of the meme itself.
7. If you want to contact a mod without the loss of anonymity that comes via PM, post your questions and requests HERE in this FAQ/Mod Alert Thread.

***Please let the mods know if there is so much as a whiff of flaming anywhere.***
Q: Can I fill a prompt that's already been filled?
A: Yes, the more the merrier.
Q: Can I fill a prompt that's already been claimed?
A: Yes, that's also just fine. Claiming is more for the OP's benefit.
Q: Can I post multiple prompts?
A: You can, but you should also post an equal number of stories/artworks to other people's requests. If you can't post art or fic for some reason, you should comment on at least three other stories and artworks for each request you make. Lots of requests equals lots and lots of feedback for other people. Pay it forward!
Q: It looks like there's a lot of this pairing. Can I post/request more?
A: Of course! If there's already plenty of a certain character/pairing it's because anons want it. However, multiple duplicate prompts will be warned and deleted.
Q: I want a gen fic. Can I request that with nothing really kinky?
A: YES! Any and all Fallout fiction is welcome on the meme.
Q: I have this weird pairing/kink/character fetish. Is it too weird for the meme?
A: Only if it's under 17, animal cruelty, or involves corrective rape against a canonically gay character to force them into being straight. Otherwise, go to town.
Q: What I wrote is kind of out-of-character. Is that OK?
A: Yup. All fills are welcomed here, including OOC ones. If the OP specified in-character though, they might be disappointed. Do your best and talk with the OP if you're concerned.
Q. Somebody posted something on my fill that hurts my feelings. Is it dumb to ask for it to be taken down?
A. Not at all! PM us or leave a comment here and we'll get right to it.
Q: Can I give feedback to the writers/artists?
A: If it's positive, yes. To avoid hurt feelings (and to encourage writers of all skill levels) we ask no critique unless requested by the author. If the mods see it, unrequested critique will be deleted. If someone else sees it first, leave a comment here.
Q: My fill (or one I found) is labeled wrong/is missing in the archives. What do I do?
A: Link it here and we'll fix it ASAP. If your post/s has been archived, please use the same link that's in the Pinboard account.
Q: My prompt never got filled :( When can I repost it?
A: Since we're brand new, let's go with one month. Considering volume, we might change that to three months later on.
Q: This prompt is months old. Should/Can I fill it?
A: YES! Even if the OP isn't around, other anons will LOVE to read it.
Q: Somebody requested a sequel. Where do I post it?
A: Did they ask for it in the comments underneath your original story? If so, post it in reply to the original prompt. If they made a separate prompt about a sequel to your story, post it as a reply to that.

Date: 2018-12-09 06:36 pm (UTC)As best as we can tell, doctor_mobius, the mod of the other Dreamwidth Fallout kink meme, deleted the entire community for 'inactivity'. This despite the fact that there was no discussion about deletion and they did not warn any of the authors whose work was in the community. We consider this, frankly, inexcusable. Doctor_mobius also chose to delete the community despite numerous promises made NOT to desert the community and despite numerous assurances that they were an 'old-time' fan of Fallout and would not lose interest in it. Apparently, promising that you won't lose interest EVER lasts about a year nowadays. We'd apologize for the snark but no, we think the snark is deserved.
Doctor_mobius also chose to do this, despite several offers of help from various people. We offered and we know at least one author that was posting a story there also offered.
Between the two of us, we have written over 200,000 words of Fallout fic, including quite a lot that was not ever posted on AO3 and was solely on the various memes. Losing the meme and the comments associated with those stories *hurts*. We would not do that to another author.
So: we don't know what happened to the other meme--except that doctor_mobius deleted it. We lost stories which upset us so we saw an opportunity to start a new one. And no, we will not vanish.

Date: 2018-12-09 06:49 pm (UTC)First, post a prompt for your story on the prompt page, you can mention that you are auto-filling if you like. Then post your story as a reply to your prompt.
There is no comment/character length limit in Dreamwidth (unlike LiveJournal) but comments tend to be more readable if they are not too long. I would recommend keeping each comment under 2,000 words to start, just in case. 1000 word comments also seem to work okay. Your mileage may vary.
Just like on the other meme, put your title and pairing and chapters in the subject line. Then place all of that plus the rating, pairing, tags and brief summary first. We are setting up a pinboard for this meme since we don't have access to the other one.
If your story is non-con or dub-con, please put that in the SUBJECT line before the title. For example: NONCON, Burning Desire, Preston/evil Female Sole 1/?
Hope that helps and we are looking forward to your story!
